Artist Statement

My jewellery is informed by transparencies and translucencies, combined with the ideas of lightness and delicacy. Primarily inspired by fabric canopies within architecture and the art of paper folding, I create jewellery pieces that combine lightweight plastics with metal structures.

Origami techniques and the tangible qualities of paper aid my research and allow me to take the flat to the three dimensional, creating paper drawings and installations. Constructing and translating folds develops the repetition, scale and shape shown within my work. In addition to this, the way light can diffuse through and change a piece creates the colour hues in my pieces. I also aim to captivate the intriguing relationship between the delicate and the solid.

I create simple and elegant fashion jewellery pieces. My jewellery is not designed for the everyday wear, but to make a statement through simplicity and subtlety.
